9 Ways to Regain Your Sanity Post Election
November 9th, 2016:
Not Exactly Judgment Day but feels eerily similar.
The results of the 2016 presidential election rolled in around 3AM ET this morning. The entire world woke to extreme shock, albeit laced with either fear or excitement. And now we must do the work to process our reactions and emotions to our new reality.
Most members of my immediate community are suffering from true despair and heartbreak while obviously the others are probably beaming with jubilation and glee. While I certainly envy those who got to wake up on the right side of the bed this morning, I am still proud to be a liberal-minded American and I surely won’t let this election be the end of my service to my community and to the rest of this country.
As a yoga teacher shaken and stirred in a nation divided but not broken, I promise to be your guide for sanity and will gladly stand beside you during this difficult time. While I definitely struggled last night, this morning and again this afternoon with anger, fear and tears, I know I must take the high road, lead by example and be the change I wish to see in the world. And as the most inspirational of women say, “when they go low, we go high!”
